Inge Røpke is Professor of Ecological Economics at Aalborg University, Copenhagen. She has published widely on ecological economics, technology in everyday life, and the relationship between consumption and the environment. Her recent research has been focused on consumption in a practice theory perspective, energy use and information technology as well as consumers’ role within the smart grid. She has been involved in several large projects, including the EU funded RESPONDER project focusing on participatory systems mapping for sustainable consumption. She has co-edited (with Lucia Reisch) The Ecological Economics of Consumption (Edward Elgar, 2004) and (with Joan Martinez-Alier) Recent Developments in Ecological Economics (Edward Elgar, 2008), and has published in many journals and edited books. She was the 2014 recipient of the Nicholas Georgescu-Roegen Award for Unconventional Thinking.
