Energy poverty and air quality conference in Ljubljana

focus

Energise partner from Slovenia, Focus Association for Sustainable Development, organised a conference 'Energy Poverty and Air Quality' on 8 April 2019 in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The problem of energy poverty has a significant effect on poor air quality, especially due to inadequate combustion of low-quality fuels in households. The big challenges are predominantly the old furnaces and cookers that are inefficient and without filters, which leads to excessive emissions of pollutants, especially PM10 particles. Excessive pollution has a negative impact on human health, especially among the most at-risk groups, such as children, the elderly and people with chronic lung disease. In the conference 'Energy Poverty and Air Quality' different stakeolders discussed ways and means by which we can address both problems – energy poverty and air pollution – simultaneously.
