In some ways, the ENERGISE project is an offspring of SCORAI Europe. Several researchers and practitioners in the ENERGISE project consortium as well as the ENERGISE Expert Panel have been long-term members of the SCORAI Europe community and have also been actively involved in the work of the organizing committee. So, what is SCORAI Europe?

SCORAI Europe is a community that contributes forward-thinking research and teaching in the area of sustainable consumption, while also bridging academic research with mainstream thinking and policy-making. We are an international network of professionals working to address challenges at the interface of material consumption, human fulfilment, lifestyle satisfaction, and technological change.

’Equity Within Limits’ Workshop organized in Budapest by SCORAI Europe together with the Ombudsman for Future Generations (2016)

SCORAI Europe organises and hosts a dedicated workshop series, focused on stimulating discussions and sharing knowledge around key themes. The idea for concrete collaboration on a joint, innovative research project was born at a SCORAI Europe workshop in Lausanne (Switzerland) in 2014 – entitled: Sustainable consumption’ problem framing and research design: Can we be inter- and transdisciplinary and do we truly want to be? A list of all SCORAI Europe workshops can be found at: http://scorai.org/scorai-europe/.

Since our launch in 2012, we have steadily grown to 210 members from Eastern and Western Europe, Asia, Australia and Northern America. SCORAI Europe works closely with our sister organizations, SCORAI North America, the European Roundtable for Sustainable Consumption and Production (ERSCP), as well as other research networks that seek to address the challenges of unsustainable consumption through research, education and inter- and transdisciplinary collaboration.

SCORAI Europe is also leading an initiative to review and share best practices on Sustainable Consumption Teaching around the world. For more information, please visit: http://scorai.org/teaching/.

To advance and disseminate knowledge to diverse audiences, forge new connections, and contribute to policy dialogues and practices SCORAI Europe also issues a regular newsletter (http://scorai.org/download/4490/) reporting on relevant projects, publications and events in the field of sustainable consumption research and action.
