NUI Galway recently hosted two PhD interns in collaboration with the H2020 SHAPE ENERGY and ENERGISE projects. Pasi Toivanen, from the University of Tampere, Finland, is currently completing a PhD, which focuses on the ”carbon lock-ins” of the Finnish energy system. His work is part of the EL-TRAN research project, funded by the Strategic Research Council of the Academy of Finland.
On September 4th (2017) Dr Frances Fahy received the NUIG Presidents award for research excellence. On Jun 28th Dr Frances Fahy Lead was selected as one of Enterprise Ireland’s 2017 Irish champions in EU research. She attended the awards ceremony in the Royal Hospital Kilmainham.
Dr Frances Fahy was appointed to the Board of the European Roundtable on Sustainable Consumption and Production at the ERSCP General Assembly which took place on the 3rd October 2017 in Greece. Dr Fahy is the Lead Coordinator of the H2020 ENERGISE project and she will commence in the ERSCP role on January 1st 2018.
